September 12, 2016 – Today marks the 4th year milestone of the Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines (CDP) as a national membership-based political party. It was founded on January 14, 2012 in Makati City and established its first set of national executive officers subsequently on March 18 of the same year.

The party is being continuously organized countrywide by members from all sectors and classes of the Filipino society: from youth and labour, farming, civil society, academe and businesses. By the mid-year of 2016, the party was able to hold a number of national congresses and conventions that led to the re-organization and the successful expansion of various chapters in the different regions of the country.

The National Executive Committee led by the Party Chairman, Lito Monico M. Lorenzana, Party President, Rufus B. Rodriguez and its members convened on September 8, 2016 at City Garden Hotel, Makati, Philippines to lay down the general plans and initiatives of the party. They also identified issues to address within the party which led to the scheduling of this year’s national congress to be held on November.

Chairman Lorenzana stressed the importance of the party’s image in its flagship of Federalism-Parliamentary advocacy. He said that CDP should be able to make stronghold in political arena to legitimately engage in discussion and alliances with the other centrist-like institutions and groups.
As of now, the party’s sole representative in congress is Cong. Maximo B. Rodriguez of second district of Cagayan de Oro City. He was recently elected last May 2016.

The youth sector of the party

The party with its youth-wing, the Centrist Democratic Youth Association of the Philippines (CDYAP) is also celebrating its fourth anniversary this month as a national youth organization. The CDYAP recently held its national congress last July 2016 at Antipolo, Rizal and strategized for a development plan in next three years.

CDYAP Chaiperson Cristita Giangan attended the Executive meeting of the CDP and forged strong collaboration for expansion and increase of membership in the local chapters. The organization has also significantly conducted various activities initiated by the local chapters throughout the country.
In the recent years of operation, the expansion of the organization was emphasized in key areas where the mother party is also organized.

Today, the CDYAP is also present nation-wide. The Executive Committee joined the meeting of the CDP ExeCom and formalized their partnership and collaboration for future endeavors.
