He said the agreement was a result of several meetings of leaders of the Rodriguezes’ Centrist Democratic Party (CDP) and Emano’s Padayon Pilipino.
Rep. Rodriguez said the CDP-Padayon Pilipino coalition is aiming at winning seats in various barangays in the city during the Oct. 30 elections so as to weaken the Liberal Party (LP) chapter chaired by Mayor Oscar Moreno.
The congressman said his elder brother and Emano have agreed to support candidates for various positions in the barangays against the LP bets.
“Final na ang atong coalition with the Padayon Pilipino. Na-a nay atong mga kandidato sa pagka-kapitan sa matag barangay,” Rodriguez said.
Ex-councilor Alexander Dacer confirmed that the Rodriguezes and Emano have met several times but added that the CDP-Padayon Pilipino coalition has yet to be finalized.
“Dili man basta-basta nga mag-coalition lang dayon. Na-a may proseso niana,” said Dacer, Padayon Pilipino spokesman.
He said Emano and Rodriguez have been meeting in order to agree on their common candidates.
“Na-a man poy sakop si Rodriguez nga gusto mokandidato pagka-kapitan, na-a poy amo, ug mao kini ang i-resolve karon aron maplastar gyud og maayo,” said Dacer.
He said he was optimistic that the CDP and the Padayon Pilipino would reach an agreement and finalize a list of candidates before the barangay elections campaign period starts.
Mayor Moreno said he was not worried with Emano and the Rodriguezes joining political forces against the LP, saying it was their right to meet, plan and organize.
“Pasagdi na sila. Ako, I’m not worrying about the election. Trabaho lang ta ug kon wala silay mahimo ug wala silay la-in worthwhile activity nga nahunahuna-an, pasagdi na lang. Ila man kanang katungod ayaw lang bot-e ang ubang tawo sa ilang gusto buhaton,” Moreno said.
He said his interests are not the same with Emano’s and the Rodriguezes’, and he was preoccupied with how city hall could deliver better services.
“I’m not thinking of partisan politics yet. I don’t even count pilay akong kapitan,” Moreno said.
